Maribel Ponist is Director of Client Accounting Services at The Ijaz Group LLC and the founder of Lumix CPAs and Advisors. Prior to starting her company, she worked in the tax division of a Big 4 Accounting firm and as an auditor for large government agencies. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and has been a licensed CPA in Maryland and Puerto Rico since 1990.
Maribel has served as founder, treasurer, and board member of several nonprofit organizations in the DC metro area. She has been recognized for her contributions by the Small Business Administration and the Montgomery County Government. As a peer reviewer for the Standards of Excellence for the Maryland Association of Nonprofits, Maribel evaluated organizations’ qualifications for certification, using her expertise in areas such as Human Resources, Financial and Legal, Governing Board, and Conflict of Interest.
She was also a member of the Digital CPA Advisory Board of the AICPA, where she contributed to transforming the profession’s use of technology. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and outdoor activities.
